We set off early in the morning (5:00 am) to be the first at the locations, guaranteeing you a unique and intimate experience with the utmost respect for the marine animals.
The Sperm Whale
The male can reach over 20 metres in length, making the species the largest carnivore in the world. The head alone can account for a third of the animal’s length. This mammal feeds largely on giant squid, as well as fish. It is known for its record-breaking dives, reaching depths of 1,500 to 2,000 metres. Its clicking vocalisations are the loudest sounds produced by any animal; they are used to communicate, identify one another, and locate each other. With our hydrophones, we will let you listen to these surprising vocalisations.
Sperm whales gather in groups called “pods”. The females live with their young, separately from the males, and help each other protect and nurse the juveniles. They give birth every three to six years and care for their offspring for over a decade.
Humpback Whales: A Breathtaking Spectacle…
From June to the end of September, humpback whales grace us with their presence, swimming in the waters off the west coast to our great delight. The adult male can measure up to 15 metres and weigh 50 tonnes for the largest specimens. Despite this imposing mass, they can breach several metres above the water, giving us a thrill every single time.
We have two species of dolphins off our coasts all year round: the spinner dolphin and the bottlenose dolphin.
They are quite sociable, and it is possible to get into the water with them, whilst, of course, respecting their peace. This is precisely why our trips depart very early in the morning: to avoid the rush of other boats and ensure the tranquillity of these incredibly endearing animals.
